Hoylands first match of the season saw the team playing Whitehall Warriors away. The match started fast and carried on that way with both teams playing hard to take the lead, but for 20 minutes the try line on both sides remained uncrossed. fast play and accurate passing got the Vikings within striking distance and winger Ben Taylor ran the ball in for the first try of the game, Dave Parkin made it 6 nil with a good kick. A further 15 minutes of good defending on both sides saw the half end 6 nil to Hoyland. The second half continued in the same way with strong defense on both sides, a miss placed offload was scooped up by a Warriors player who scored close to the posts to give the Whitehall kicker a clear shot to bring the game back to level pegging. From that point forward Hoyland took control of the game, with trys coming from Ben Taylor, Dave Parkin, Mark Renshaw-Smith and Aaron Willis with 2 further conversions by kicker Dave Parkin to give the Vikings a well deserved 26 - 6 win.
